Goat Island Treasure Boxes
Goat Island, South Carolina is a small barrier island, 200 yards across the Intracoastal Waterway from Isle of Palms, S.C. In the early ’30s, a man and his wife lived there in self-exile without electricity or water, just a herd of goats. Some 80+ years later the small strip of land is still known as Goat Island and continues to be sought after by many hoping to escape the hustle and bustle of life in the city. Still separated from civilization by water, this small and simple rustic island continues to be a relaxing retreat for the lucky ones who are able to visit or live there. Goat Island one-of-a-kind boxes are the ultimate Charleston gift. Designed by a retired teacher and coach who started woodworking as a relaxing hobby, the exquisite "works of art" are created from various, salvaged, solid wood mouldings, both old and new. The flaws and imperfections in the wood and finish only add to their beauty and authenticity. The local artist transports all the components and finished product from Goat Island (near the Isle of Palms, S.C.) across the intracoastal waterway by boat. We trust you will enjoy and cherish your signed, original work of art.
